In 2014, New Sight Eye (NSEC) Center under the able leadership of the Founder, Executive Director, Mr. Robert F. Dolo and his team developed a proposal for the establishment of a secondary eye center in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. Said proposal was submitted through the Lions Clubs of Liberia (LCL) District 403-A2 for a SightFirst grant to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). It was approved August, 2016 with grant number SFP21926/403-A2 in an amount of US$400,705.00 with Cllr. Lion Dickson Doe as the grant Administrator and Cllr. Lion Esther Barclay as the Project Chairperson. The project was funded by LCIF and being implemented by NSEC to demonstrate best practice, transparency and technical support throughout the project. The duration of the project is five (5) years commencing and ending October 10, 2019 to December 31st 2024 respectively. The project is expected to be officially turned over to the Liberia Government Hospital Management team through the Ministry of Health for continuity after the five (5) years. This is to buttress the Ministry of Health effort towards achieving universal access to eye health care in rural Liberia.
