WHO WE ARE

New Eyesight and Medical Center (NEMC) is a Liberian non-profit healthcare organization dedicated to improving access to quality, specialized medical services, with a strong focus on eye health. Founded in 2009 as a grassroots initiative originally known as New Sight Eye Center with initial support from Rotary Club International Foundation. NEMC has grown into a trusted provider of eye care and related medical services across Liberia. It was officially launched in 2012 in Paynesville City, Montserrado County. The Center delivers comprehensive services including eye examinations, sight-restoration surgeries, optical and diagnostic services, as well as medical, laboratory, ENT, and dental care. Guided by a vision of universal access to specialized healthcare, NEMC works to ensure equitable, affordable services while strengthening local professional capacity. Through partnerships with government institutions and international organizations such as the Lions Clubs International Foundation, NEMC has established and supported eye care units in underserved counties including Grand Bassa, Nimba and Bong, trained local health workers, and conducted thousands of screenings and surgeries. Its mobile outreach programs further extend care into rural communities, helping to reduce preventable blindness and strengthen Liberia’s health system overall.
